Cynthia Ann Crawford (born February 20th in 1966) is an American model, actress and television personality. In the 80s and 90s she was one of the most popular supermodels , and a ubiquitous presence on runways and magazine covers as well as on fashion-related campaigns. She subsequently expanded into acting and business ventures. Her sophomore year at high school, she received a call from an apparel store in the local area regarding modeling jobs. Then she realized that the call was made as a prank by two of her students. The following year, another store hired a number of high school students, including Crawford as a model, to take on their work (including the fashion shoot). In her junior year local photographer Roger Legel, whose duties included photographing a different college girl to be that week's coed on the DeKalb Nite Weekly, asked to photograph her for the magazine; the result was her first ever cover. Her enthusiastic feedback and the photo convinced her to start modeling. She started out with an agency with a small size. Elite Model Management bought it soon after she signed. She participated in Elite's Look of the Year contest in 1983 at the age of 17 and made it to the national finals.
