Garena introduced the Garena Professional League (GPL) in May 2012, a six month-long professional gaming competition that features more than 100 matches online. The inaugural season of GPL includes a League of Legends competition which comprises six professional teams. The teams are made up of the top players of their countries. GPL games and commentary are streamed live online. Watchers can access these on the GPL website. In the month of January, Garena revealed the Garena Premier League's second season was scheduled to begin on the 4th of January, 2013. Garena Premier League, 2013 will feature two teams each made up of Taiwan and Vietnam. The current total of eight teams has now been up to nine. These teams include: AHQ (Asia), Saigon Fantastic Five (Saigon Jokers), Bangkok Titans (Bangkok) and Kuala Lumpur Hunters(Kuala Lumpur) The Manila Eagles(Manila) and Taipei Assassins. Singapore Sentinels. The Garena E-Sports Arena, an esports facility is a venue that was inaugurated in November of 2014 in the Neihu District of Taipei. The first studio was opened in the month of November 2014 in time for the opening of the League of Legends Masters Series. The league is the world's premier LoL Taiwanese with Hong Kongese as well as Macau LoL League that has been spun out of the GPL. Garena launched her participation in the Iron Solari League - a League of Legends competition for women in the Philippines at the beginning of January 2015. It is a bi-monthly tournament which is held in the second quarter of each month. It is designed to increase participation by under-represented groups and is open to all those who self-identify as female. Besides competitive tournaments, Garena also organizes events to cater to users for offline networking and meeting. Garena is the host of Garena Festival, which takes place in Singapore, Malaysia and other nations.
